Breathing into a release

It’s funny writing books these days as opposed to releasing records like I used to in a previous life. What I love about books is that they have a longevity that singles and dance records never used to have. In those days you made a record, it got released, talked about for a few weeks and then whoosh. Onto the next.

But a book has a very real life. We marked the Breaking of the Shell down for ‘release’ in July, but that is a fairly arbitrary date. What happens now is that over summer and autumn people start to read the book and hopefully spread the word about it. http://www.merlinsdiary.com is another place that will help it to raise its profile.

You can breathe with a new book. It creates a momentum of its own and a life of its own. I love that.
